Junior work has often included repetitive implementation that builds familiarity through volume. Agents can automate some of that work, but removing typing does not remove the need to learn debugging, data flow, testing, and tradeoffs.
The learning loop should change: predict an approach, inspect the agent’s plan, review the diff, run the system, explain failures, and improve the repository guidance.
Teams still need pathways to ownership. If juniors only approve generated code they do not understand, the pipeline fails. Agents can accelerate learning when they expose reasoning and feedback—not when they replace practice with blind acceptance.
